Pinkstreet campaign 1 (2016)

Pink Street campaign was a cancer awareness campaign held at Symbiosis college. Pune. India. An entire street was painted pink with Breast Cancer Awareness messages. The event was organized with a view to spread awareness amongst the young college going students regarding Breast Cancer, along with leading oncologist Dr. Chetan Deshmukh from Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital and Breast Cancer Dr Anupama Mane from Jehangir Cancer Hospital

It was encouraging to see the youngsters open up during the interactive session. We attempted to dispel prevalent misconceptions and falsehoods about breast cancer. Second, we worked with the students to produce wall art and graffiti with messages about cancer awareness and living a healthy lifestyle; this one was done on a wall facing one of the main routes in the city. This helped the students spread the word to the general public.

This unique ribbon was unveiled on Feb 3, at the Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Karad, Maharashtra. People got together in large numbers to decorate the ribbon and to show their support towards the prevention of the dreadful disease. The initiative also salutes the survivors who have fought the disease against all odds and are living their lives gracefully. The Indian Council of Medical Research estimates 17.3 lakh new cases of cancer and 8.8 lakh cancer deaths by 2020. This makes it even more important for the masses to be aware of the deadly disease. This was why Zuvius Lifesciences opted for a record-setting initiative to catch public attention. At Karad, Alka Chavan, Director – Marketing of Zuvius Lifesciences, said, “We wanted the entire country to sit up and notice the urgency of this potential epidemic and work on preventing it. Men For Pink (2021)

Zuvius Lifesciences had initiated this award-winning campaign with a unique idea.We wanted the Men to stand for the women in their life. It can be his mother, wife, friend, Daughter, or anyone else.

Largely, women shy away from taking the breast cancer diagnosis. We wanted the men to a stand for the women of their life.  We wanted Men to take the initiative of taking the women in their life for early diagnosis for breast cancer, thereby helping them with early diagnosis.

Breast Cancer is a rapidly growing cancer and 1 in 8 ladies are prone to breast cancer. By the time a woman is diagnosed due to breast cancer, it is too late leading to complications in treatment. Early diagnosis is the key for the better treatment and effective prognosis.

As a support, We at Zuvius wanted the Men to step up and take every woman of their family for early diagnosis. This would help them to protect the women, through early detection and timely treatment.

From an on-ground execution perspective, we had a specially designed installation of a male mannequin wearing a women’s attire with a choli in public places and even in Large hospitals. We also had setup a stage to speak to the members of the family especially the members who were escorting the cancer patient to the hospital.  Our team members spoke to patients / caregivers about the event, answer queries and assisted them in general.

Thus, through this event organized at multiple hospitals in the cities of Ghatkopar, Dombivli, Nashik, Kolhapur and Jaipur, we encouraged the men to take the initiative and get the women in the family for regular check-ups.

The objective of the initiative was to speak, educate & explain to the head of the family, especially the male fraternity.  The awareness was about the importance of early diagnosis for breast cancer.  The hospitals also offered free diagnosis during the awareness month of October. The event was wholeheartedly supported by the community and the hospital staff.  We also spread the awareness message using the tag #menforpink on various social media platforms.

At Zuvius, we believe together we can make a meaningful difference – not just to the women, but also to the other members in the family.

The insight behind the #menforpink initiative was simple: While breast cancer largely impacts the women, it affects the men in the family too – emotionally.
